installing kali Linux in Smartphones

Without rooting the device, a Smartphone may be turned into a covert hacking device capable of running programs like Nmap, Nikto, and Netcat with only a few clicks.

UserLand, developed by UserLAnd Technologies, is free Android software that makes installing Linux distributions simple and painless without the need for root. This allows an ARM64 Debian operating system to coexist with the existing Android OS. This ARM architecture, often known as “AARCH64,” is the same one utilized by the Kali Linux Raspberry Pi ARM images, making it simple to import Kali’s tool collection.

All of the filesystems that were generated are readily discarded. While many Kali tools function normally, UserLAnd is still a young project, and it is possible that it will cause some tools (such as Nmap) to malfunction or fail when running specific commands. It’s worth noting that these difficulties will most likely be fixed soon.

For the technically minded, UserLAnd creates the Debian and Ubuntu filesystems using custom scripts and executables. PRoot, an open-source program that offers chroot-like functionality, is one example. PRoot allows you to run applications from a different root directory without requiring root access. In most cases, a user-space program will interface with the Kernel directly via system calls. PRoot runs in the background with UserLAnd, reading these system calls and performing and manipulating them as needed to mimic users and permissions in the filesystem.

We’ll begin by installing an SSH client, which will be our primary means of communicating with the Debian operating system. Then, to truly transform Android into a hacking device, I’ll guide you through basic OS setup instructions including importing the Kali Linux repository. Kali Linux, as some readers may know, is based on the Debian operating system, thus importing their repository won’t harm anything or make it unstable.

Step 1: Download and install the ConnectBot application (Optional)

This step is no longer necessary because UserLAnd now has built-in SSH capability. If preferred, third-party SSH clients can still be utilized.

ConnectBot is an open-source SSH client for Android phones that allows you to connect to SSH servers safely. The new UserLAnd Debian operating system will be accessed mostly through this interface. ConnectBot is accessible via the F-Droid repository if you don’t use or have access to Google Play.

JuiceSSH is also an excellent alternative to ConnectBot because it has more functions, so you may use it instead if you like. We chose ConnectBot since it is more often updated and easier for novices.

Step 2: Download and install the UserLand app.
The most essential thing is that you download it, which you can do via Google Play or F-Droid.

UserLand is a Play Store link (free)
UserLand F-Droid Link (free)

Step 3: Create a New Filesystem
Open UserLand and go to the “Apps” page once the installation is finished. Wait a few minutes for the distributions to load after refreshing the tab.

The Kali Linux OS was just added to the list of available distributions. If you choose “Kali” or “Debian,” the UserLAnd app will ask for your credentials. Create a username and password for VNC, as well as a VNC password. The “Password” will enable access to the SSH server once the filesystem has been installed. The “VNC Password” will not be used in this instruction, even though it is required to finish the installation.

Step 4: Interact with the Filesystem.
After installation is complete, go to the “Sessions” page and choose the newly created option. UserLAnd will attempt to launch ConnectBot automatically and ask, “Are you sure you want to continue connecting?” Go and Tap “Yes,” and then enter the password you made in the previous step.

Syncing a Bluetooth keyboard to the phone will make setting up the OS easier at this stage, but it isn’t essential. If you don’t have a Bluetooth keyboard, I recommend downloading Hacker’s Keyboard from the Google Play Store; you’ll understand why as we go.

Step 5: Go and Update Your OS
We recommend you to go and make sure that your os is up to date.
Use apt-get dist-upgrade command

Top Things to Do After Installing Kali Linux
This new filesystem is extremely simple, with very little software included by default. The following packages are recommended for ordinary Debian and Kali users. Some programs are optional, but they will assist you in following along in subsequent parts when Android is the primary hacking device.

screen — A terminal multiplexer allows users to run and switch between several terminal sessions at the same time. This is one of the most critical packages to install when using UserLAnd. Android phones have difficulty with long SSH connections and regularly disconnect for no apparent reason. As a result of such a failure, running commands may fail and there will be no way to rejoin the session and check the progress. Shell sessions may be kept open forever by using a screen.
net-tools — Net-tools is a tool bundle that includes ifconfig, netstat, route, and several other important networking programs.

netcat — Netcat is a feature-rich UNIX program that is intended to be a dependable tool for establishing TCP and UDP connections. Netcat may be used to construct and communicate with basic backdoors on macOS.

Neofetch — Neofetch (seen in the article’s cover photo) is a cross-platform system information collecting tool. It shows system characteristics with the distribution logo for ease of use. This package has no use other than to show off the distribution to coworkers and acquaintances or to create cover pictures for WonderHowTo. Neofetch is a little problematic with UserLAnd distros, but you might be interested in how I made the cover photo, so I’ve included it here.

GnuPG (commonly known as gpg) is software that encrypts data and protects email communications. Gpg is used by certain installation scripts (such as Metasploit) to import software signing keys. It is possible to install Metasploit without gpg, but it will simplify the process.

curl — cURL is a command-line application that allows you to download files via HTTP and other frequently used protocols. This is a fantastic program for downloading files from the internet.

wget — Wget, like cURL, is a command-line program for downloading files from the internet. Because some developers prefer wget over cURL, it’s a good idea to maintain both installed and accessible.

git — Git is a popular version management system that is frequently used to clone (download) GitHub projects. Null Byte users frequently suggest Git.

nano — nano is a text editor that runs from the command line. Nano will make it easier to edit files through SSH. Download Vim or Emacs instead if you prefer those text editors (or in addition to nano).
The apt-get command can be used to install the packages listed above.
